Wash Your Mouth Out!

Whoever decided which were bad words, I do not know.

However, as we well remember, when cursing came out of our mouth, as children, the new soap bar came out of the cabinet, too (only with a little help from our parents).

Some may get out the soap, for their children, still, today.

Though, few realize we could benefit from it, ourselves. While several have cleaned up the fowl language, we still speak cursing:

To Our Children
"You are the laziest kid I ever saw!"

To Our Mate
"All you care about is yourself."

To Past Friends
"You are so inconsiderate!"

About Ourselves
"Alzheimer runs in our family. So, I'll probably get it, too."

About Others
"Well, they just can't seem to do anything right."

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3:9-18

Most of the time, we do not advertise our fowl language. We may not share our cursing, in regard to others. But, we are pretty free to share them about ourselves. "I'm getting old."

"I may not live much longer." "I am too dumb to learn that." "I won't ever be able to walk, again."

This verse recently spoke to me and, because I love you, I truly pray you get it, too. God gave us power, using our words, which could be the very reason Jesus said, "According to your faith be it unto you," Mt. 8:28-29. Whenever we make negative statements, we are giving Satan permission to make that evil so.

A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:20-21

So, the next time something negative comes out of your mouth (before evil has time to take its effect), go wash your mouth out. You will be certain to remember, then.

Much of what ails us, and our loved ones, are words we have spoken.
